Thinking globally and acting locally for grassroots development, PADEAP Nigeria partners with public and private organizations to foster peaceful relationships between faiths and ethnic groups. The programme in Nigeria operates with its headquarters in Funtua, Katsina State and has presence via various outpost centres in rural communities in the northwest zone of Nigeria.

With a population put at 35,794,944 making it one of the most populated zones in the country, Northwest Nigeria is also one of the largest in land mass. Having just come out of successive political, ethnic and religious conflicts, the zone is still considered to be a fragile area given its characteristic volatile nature.

Zamfara, one of the states in the zone, pioneered the implementation of the Sharia penal code in the country which sparked off several religious/ethnic crises in Nigeria during the periods between 1999 and 2002.

With high rates of maternal, child mortality and poverty, the zone is considered one of the most neglected in terms of social infrastructure. Low literacy rates are also a major point of concern and this is further heightened by the abysmally large literacy gap between men and women. The following states make up the Northwest Geo-political zone of Nigeria: Katsina, Kano, Jigawa, Zamfara, Kaduna, Kebbi and Sokoto States.
